The Alpe Adria Radweg Cycle Route (hence the acronym CAAR), is a long-distance cross-border cycle path that connects Salzburg, on the northern side of the Alps, to the seaside town of Grado.
The Alpe Adria Radweg cycle route is described as one of the most spectacular European cycling routes. In fact it is a route that offers continuous surprises to the cycle tourist: you pass through pleasant cities, medieval villages and characteristic villages; you pedal along placid rivers and sparkling streams that sometimes disappear into wild gorges.
From the suggestive Alpine valleys, rich in woods and dominated by high mountains, you descend towards the fertile Friulian plain which leads to the sunny beaches of the Adriatic Sea.
Confirming its spectacular nature, the Alpe Adria Radweg cycle path was proclaimed the “cycle path of the year 2015” during the active tourism fair in Amsterdam.
